Food Takes Center Stage At Double Decker '18
The annual Double Decker Arts Festival not only brings art and music fans to the Square but also those with an appetite for the best local food. Co-owner of Chicken Salad Chick, Robin Clayton says that the atmosphere is a great place to connect with those near and far.
“We love chicken salad and we want everyone to try chicken salad, so it’s a great opportunity for everyone, it just brings arts and crafts, music and food, what else could you like?” asked Clayton.
The food at Double Decker includes pizza, barbecue, frozen treats along with many organic options to satisfy all ages and cravings.
“My favorite thing about Double Decker is definitely the food because they have so many different options and there’s something for everyone,” Ole Miss junior McKenzie Denton said.
At Double Decker, food is literally at the center of the festival. Located around the courthouse, 28 local food vendors showcase their fan favorite items.
Oxsicle owner Lauren Klimentz hopes her naturally produced popsicles will continue to be a hit in the Cxford area after the festival is over.
“I absolutely love handing a child a popsicle. Their face just lights up, they are so excited about what they are about to eat, so I’m just hoping that a lot of people will see us cause we have popsicles around town and they can get them the rest of the year too.”
Fergndan’s Pizza owner says his goal is to make people feel at home with his wood-fired pizza, which is one of a kind at Double Decker.
“I am a people person, so I just feed off the vibe. So, it’s a great energy; it’s a lot of people around here all having a good time. Nobody’s mad when they are eating, so I mean it’s just a great place to be.”
One thing is for sure, no one leaves Double Decker with an empty stomach.
