No. 7 Diamond Rebels Defeat Arkansas State 10-3
The No. 7 Ole Miss baseball team took down the Arkansas State Red Wolves 10-3 on Wednesday night at Swayze Field. The Rebels picked up its 30th win of the season.
Ole Miss jumped out to an early 3-0 lead in the first inning as Ryan Olenek got things started with a single. Olenek pushed his hitting streak to 16 straight games. He came in to score on an RBI walk. Will Golden drove in two more on a two-out RBI double to left-center.
Jordan Fowler was dominating on the mound against the Red Wolves in 5.0 complete innings of work only allowing one run on five hits while striking out four batters and giving up a walk. Fowler moves to 4-0 on the season with the win.
In the second inning, Grae Kessinger and Thomas Dillard both hit two-run homers against Arkansas State giving the Rebels a 7-1. Kessinger now has two home runs on the season and Dillard has eight.
In the fourth, Ole Miss added two more runs on a wild pitch that brought M Spears in and Nick Fortes scored on an RBI groundout by Dillard. The Rebels weren’t done there as Cooper Johnson came into score in the fifth off of an infield single by Anthony Servideo.
Arkansas State tried to climb back in the game in the sixth as they scored two runs on the reliever, Austin Miller, to make the score 10-3.
Ole Miss returns to action this weekend as they play host to the Georgia Bulldogs in a three-game series tilt. First pitch is set for 6:30 p.m.
