Oxford Film Fest to Host 3 April Fundraisers Including Live Auction
The Oxford Film Festival will spend the month of April raising funds prior to May through November movie screenings. Director Melanie Addington said the fundraisers well help keep the Oxford Film Fest screenings free to the public.
Supporters can eat at Panera Bread on Jackson Ave. in Oxford from 4-8 p.m. today, April 9. Twenty percent of donations will support the festival, and the cashier must be informed at the time of purchase. A flyer (click the picture below) must be shown to the cashier. No additional donations are required, just a regular food purchase.

On April 17 at Southside Gallery, a live auction will be held at 6:30 p.m., including a wine and cheese reception. Proceeds from the auction of the rare Glennray Tutor painting plus a private tour of his studio will go toward the Oxford Film Festival. The TWO ROOMS painting is acrylic on paper and is 15×20 inches and was completed in 1982. The winning bid will also receive a private tour of Tutor’s art studio.
From April 22-30, shoppers at Five Below can support the Oxford Film Festival by downloading the flyer and taking it with you when buying at the store in the Oxford Galleria II.
The free movie screenings will begin on Thursday, May 4 with a documentary as part of Pride Week at 6 p.m. at the Powerhouse of the Upstairs Inferno. The new Monday Movie Series in partnership with the Burns Belfry Multicultural Center and PBS POV series will be June 11 (A Conversation with My Black Son), July 16 (Presenting Princess Shaw), Aug. 27 (All the Difference), Sept. 17 (Cameraperson), Oct. 22 (Election Day) and Nov. 19 (Shalom Italia).
Each film will be presented with a guest speaker and will be free for the community. More information on each film is available at www.oxfordfilmfest.com.
