Realtor's Weekend Rentals Make for a Sweet Oxford Retreat

Spring is in the air, and Oxford is blooming with tourism.

Baseball season is in full swing, the highly-anticipated Double Decker Arts Festival will soon hit the streets of the Oxford Square and some will walk across the University of Mississippi Grove for the last time as an Ole Miss student as they take part in commencement weekend.
While Oxford welcomes in the crowd, the local hotels and Airbnbs are bursting at the seams.
Kay Hightower, local realtor of three years in Oxford, has a unique business with offers that differ from any typical lodging options.
Since 2007, Hightower has created a weekend rental business with a plethora of quaint, cozy Oxford staple properties. Guests of Kay Hightower’s properties can pick their style — town homes, condos, duplexes and stand-alone homes, depending on the price and size.
As these big weekends approach, Hightower said her weekends rentals are in the ideal locations.
“We have several properties available for big weekends, like graduation,” Hightower said. “All of them are close to the Square and campus, about a mile or less.”
Hightower’s properties are conveniently located allowing guests to park with ease within walking distance of almost anywhere. But aside from location, Hightower’s guests stay at the top of her priority list, and she strives to offer the best experience possible when one rents from her.
“When you do business with me, you know what you’re getting,” Hightower said. “I am credited by the Better Business Bureau with an A+ rating. I am a well-known person around Oxford, and my properties have a reputation for their excellent quality.”
When booking a stay with Kay Hightower, her properties have anything one could possibly need, and more. With fully functional kitchen and laundry facilities, there’s more space than any hotel can offer — some properties have large yards and even extra entertainment space for social gatherings.
“I put my main focus on my clients when they rent from me,” Hightower said. “I want everyone to have enough space and be pleased with the property they choose. I meet them at the house to check-in and get them accommodated, then I am on-call and available 24/7 if my renters are in need of my assistance.”
These properties provide all of the materials one will need, from kitchen equipment to soap and clean linens. Hightower believes her weekend rentals are all about the experience, and that’s why she creates an environment to leave a lasting impact for her renters and ensures they have a great visit to her beloved town.
“Through the weekend rentals, I love the variety of people I get to meet,” Hightower said. “I have made some long lasting friendships and regular renters through my business. When my clients leave my properties, I hope that they had an excellent time and that they leave knowing they have a new friend in me.”
