Master Gardeners and UM Museum Kick Off Spring Garden Series
The 11th annual Spring Garden Series presented by the Master Gardeners of Lafayette County and the University of Mississippi Museum kicked off today with a lecture by Sherra Owen, “Inspiration for a Garden through Faulkner’s Writing.”
The theme for this year’s series is Faulkner’s Rowan Oak, Historical Landscape.
In today’s lecture, Owen highlighted how a literary garden was created from the inspiration in Faulkner’s writing. Owen is a retired educator from Union County, Mississippi. She is a Audubon Master Naturalist as well as a member of The Mississippi Native Plant Society. Owen was instrumental in helping to Design the Faulkner Literary Garden at the Union County Heritage Museum. Her presentation today not only highlighted the plants used in the literary garden, but gave inspiration in helping others to create their own interesting gardens.
