The cold, damp morning may have kept some from coming to Swayze for the Kids Day game, but it didn’t affect the bats of the No. 5 Ole Miss Rebels against the New Orleans Privateers. Ole Miss downed New Orleans by a score of 9-4.

Sophomore Thomas Dillard continued his impressive hitting streak at the plate going two for four with a home run, followed by a triple and bringing in four RBIs.
The Rebels (20-2) jumped out to a 3-0 lead in the second inning. Dillard opened the frame reaching base on a throwing error by the second baseman, followed by a walk to Will Golsan. After a fly out, Tyler Keenan walked, and Johnson got an RBI on a walk. Anthony Servideo delivered an infield single to score Golsan.
Dillard smashed an opposite field bomb in the third inning that extended the Rebels lead out to 4-0.
Sophomore starter RHP Houston Roth kept the Privateers’ batters at bay by not allowing them to score in the first three frames. UNO scratched a run across in the fourth and two runs in the fifth inning. Roth worked five innings giving up five hits, allowing two walks and retiring seven batters to strikeouts.
In the fourth, Dillard just missed a grand slam by a foot to center field that was a bases-clearing triple with two outs in the inning. Dillard’s hit brought in Jacob Adams, Ryan Olenek and Nick Fortes who reached on a walk, hit-by-pitch and walk respectively.
Coach Mike Bianco called on Greer Holston out of the bullpen in the sixth inning. Holston kept UNO hitters guessing at the plate for two innings only allowing one hit. Connor Green made an appearance in the eighth inning. Dallas Woolfolk came into pitch in the ninth and only allowed one run to come in to score.
