Double Decker Arts Festival 2018 is set to showcase some of the finest art with an estimated 148 vendors (176 booths) on hand to display craftsmanship and expertise.

Kicking off on Friday, April 27 at 6 p.m., musical entertainment will highlight the evening. Saturday’s activities commence at 6:30 a.m. with Double Decker’s 5K Spring Run. There will be music throughout the day beginning at 10:15 a.m. with the art vendors opening at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The festival closes at 10 p.m.

Butterfly paintings by Mitchell Walters

Mitchell Walters of Birmingham will be participating this year. The talented Ole Miss alum is working in the fashion and interior design industries. Walters, originally from Jackson, will be displaying the Butterfly diptych painting, created using charcoal, acrylic paint and liquid gold leaf on white linen fabric. Each piece is beautifully framed in gold. Walters’ works are inspired by movement, emotion and nature.

Oxford Treehouse Gallery will also be joining Double Decker’s group of artisans. Oxford Treehouse Gallery represents some 20 plus regional artists. Some items offered at this year’s festival will include Walter Neill’s hand-forged bottle openers. The Rattlesnake bottle opener is forged from a high-carbon steel farrier’s rasp.
J. Britt Lighting (Tupelo) will be bringing one of his best sellers (pictured below) to the festival.

And to brighten up anyone’s yard, Rodney Claxton will present his beautifully designed and crafted birdhouses.

All in all, things are falling in place to make Double Decker 2018 the best ever. As the temperatures begin to rise, that is a strong indication Double Decker’s not that far away.
