Ole Miss Football Gears Up for Spring Practice on the Gridiron
Time has come for the Ole Miss Rebels football team to hit the practice field to kick off spring practice for the 2018 season.
Prior to the team opening practice Tuesday, head coach Matt Luke met with media to discuss how the culture of the team is growing from last season.
“We want to start where we finished and keep building on that,” Luke said. “I think that is the key you don’t want to have to go back. You want start where you finished and keep building on that. We have talked about culture, and I think that is what we want to do is continue to build on what we have already started.”
During the spring, the Rebels will be without some players due to minor injuries and position changes.
Offensively, Dawson Knox, D.K. Buford, D’Vaughn Pennamon and Eli Johnson will be out. On the defense, Austrian Robinson, Benito Jones and Qaddir Sheppard are all out.
Some Rebels will be given a chance to prove what they have at a new position as Armani Linton will move from his safety position to the offensive side of the ball and play running back. Vernon Dasher, who is listed as a defensive back, will move to the star position, which is the hybrid.
Spring practice will culminate with the annual Grove Bowl at 1 p.m. on April 7 and will be televised by ESPNU.
In addition to the Grove Bowl, fans will be able to attend practice inside Vaught-Hemingway Stadium at 11 a.m. on Saturday (March 3). If weather forces the team indoors, practice will be closed to the public.
