Credit Card Fraud, Obstructing Traffic and More in Today's Crime Report
Oxford police responded to the following calls: Five alarms, four ambulance assist, careless driving, counterfeit current, credit card fraud, two disturbing the peace, domestic disturbance, improper parking, two motorist assist, noise violation-vehicle, obstructing traffic, other agency assist, two petit larcenies, property damage, simple assault, two suspicious activity, two suspicious persons, suspicious vehicle, trespassing, welfare concerns.
Oxford police investigated six accident, 24 tickets and made the following arrests:
DUI 1st, Possession of Marijuana in a Motor vehicle, Resisting arrest, No Insurance, No Tag, Obstructing traffic
MIP, Fake ID, Giving False Identifying Information
Discharging a firearm in City Limits
DUI 1st, Careless Driving
DUI 1st, Careless Driving, No Insurance
DUI 1st, Speeding
Two Possession of Paraphernalia
Possession of Paraphernalia, No Insurance, Speeding
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: Four accidents, alarm, two animal complaints, disturbance, juvenile complaint, four service calls, suspicious activity, welfare concern, two transports, traffic complaint, fraud, reckless driving, court detail, two civil matters.

2/21 – 17:23 – Old Baptist Hospital – call canceled
2/21 – 22:03 & 22:38 – Lafayette Place Bldg. 2 3rd floor breezway – water running into a smoke detector causing an activation
2/22 – 07:59 – 1200 Jefferson 2nd floor outside hallway – water running into a smoke detector causing an activation
2/22 – 11:38 – Sigma Chi house – general fire alarm – when it rains heavily the phone box gets wet which causes the phones to go out and that activates the fire alarm
2/22 – 13:01 – 1309 North Lamar (old Lamar Lounge) workers cleaning the building activated a smoke detector
2/22 – 13:29 – Campus Creek Bldg. H – workers broke a sprinkler pipe causing the water flow alarm to activate
2/22 – 14:54 – 2232 Lee Loop – Elderly female having chest pains – monitored her vitals until EMS arrived
University Police Department responded to the following incidents:
Nine vehicle stop, motor vehicle assist, possession of paraphernalia, motorist assist.
