Ole Miss Diamond Rebels Ready for the 2018 Season
The Ole Miss Rebels will start their journey that hopefully ends in Omaha on Friday afternoon as they play host to Winthrop.
Coach Mike Bianco addressed the media at Swayze Field on the upcoming season.
The diamond Rebels have a lot more upperclassmen this season and fewer new faces on the field.
“Most of the new faces are administrative faces this season,” Bianco said. “Last year, we had a lot of new faces in the uniforms. We talked about the number one recruiting class, and a lot of young guys stepped on the field last year.”
In 2017, the baseball team was made up of 29 underclassmen out of the 35 players.
The Rebels return seven of the nine position players in 2018 after only losing Colby Bortles and Tate Blackman.
When the Rebels take the field this weekend, fans will see a rotation that will showcase the arms of Ryan Rolison (Friday), Brady Feigl (Saturday) and James McArthur toeing the rubber Sunday.
First pitch is set for Friday at 4 p.m. against Winthrop for the three-game series.
