Two Rebel Hurlers Named to Preseason All-America Teams
Opening Day at Swayze Field is fast approaching for the Ole Miss Rebels, and the accolades keep coming, as two pitchers – Ryan Rolison and Dallas Woolfolk – have been tabbed to D1Baseball Preseason All-America teams.
D1Baseball named Rolison the No. 2 college prospect, which landed him on the second team, while Woolfolk, who was a member of the USA Baseball team this past summer, received a spot on the third team.
The southpaw Rolison is coming off a Freshman All-America campaign just a season ago with a 6-3 record and a 3.06 ERA. By the end of the season, Rolison had found himself in a spot in the rotation and allowed the third-fewest runs (23) among stat-eligible pitchers. He held opposing sluggers to a .242 clip in 61.2 innings of work and was named to the SEC All-Freshman team.
Over the summer, Rolison continued his dominating performance on the mound up in the Cape Cod league. In just six starts, he struck out 35 batters and finished with a 1.92 ERA and a 4-0 record. Rolison was named to the Cape Cod All-Star team and the No. 3 prospect in the entire league according to Baseball America.
Woolfolk is only one of six relievers out of the pen on the preseason teams. Last season, he accounted for 12 saves, which is one shy of the single-season record. The righty held opposing hitters to a .200 clip and maintained a 41-5 strikeout-to-walk ratio across 37.2 innings of work.
Over the summer, Woolfolk played with USA Baseball in 10 outings. He had a 0.84 ERA with 13 strikeouts and held batters to a .118 average.
The Rebels take the diamond of Swayze Field on February 16 against Winthrop for a three-game series tilt.
