Surgeon to Address Bariatric Support Group at Baptist Memorial Hospital Tonight
Is bariatric surgery the weight-loss solution you’ve been looking for? Board-certified bariatric surgeon Dr. David Scott Therrien will address that question for a local bariatric support group tonight at 6 p.m. in the Magnolia 2 Conference Room at Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi in Oxford.
The presentation is aimed at current and former bariatric patients and anyone interested in learning more about bariatric surgery.
Insurance companies often provide coverage for bariatric surgery now, according to a Baptist Memorial video featuring Dr. Walker Byars.
The surgeries are performed robotically, “which gives you a better operation, a quicker recovery—patients usually stay one night in the hospital and return to work within a week,” Byars noted. “Safety is comparable to that of gall bladder removal, with a quick recovery and quick return to week.”
