Oxford Named a Top Retirement Destination by National Magazine
Oxford has been selected a top retirement destination by Where to Retire, a magazine geared toward helping people with their retirement relocation decisions.
Oxford is profiled in a feature titled “8 Tax-Friendly Cities” in the January-February 2018 issue, which will be available nationwide on Dec. 12.
Annette Fuller, editor of Where to Retire, said many relocating retirees consider taxes when making their move.
“Retirees find they must take into account the tax situation in their potential location to make a well-rounded, wise decision,” she said. “With a historic downtown and all the benefits of the University of Mississippi, Oxford paints an overall rosy picture, with a lesser tax bite.”
The list also includes Aiken, S.C.; Athens, Ga.; Crossville, Tenn.; Natchitoches, La.; Reno, Nev.; Stuart, Fla.; and Wickenburg, Ariz.

Where to Retire magazine has featured virtually every city and town in America on some list. (It has lots and lots of lists.)
Lauding Oxford’s being on one of the lists as something meaningful is pretty darn close to being “fake news”.
