Oxford Mayor Robyn Tannehill helps children of the Boys and Girls Club of Oxford reach the top of the tree.

The Oxford Boys and Girls Club descended upon the Oxford-Lafayette County Public Library Wednesday afternoon to trim the Christmas tree.
This marks the first year that the library has invited the Boys and Girls Club to come decorate the tree.
“It was so much fun and such a great afternoon,” Head Librarian Laura Beth Walker said. “We love the Boys and Girls Club. They are such a great organization. The kids are amazing. I thought it would be a good idea to have them come and do it. I want to do this every year now.”

As the boys and girls placed the ornaments on the tree, with the help of Oxford Mayor Robyn Tannehill, two library employees started playing and singing Christmas Carols.
“It means a lot and teaches the kids about giving back and the true meaning of Christmas and family and Jesus, while bringing the kids together so they can enjoy each other and enjoy having fun,” Kanaris Wilson, the director of the Boys and Girls Club, said.
