The Ole Miss volleyball team will host the first two rounds of the National Invitational Volleyball Championship (NIVC), which starts Wednesday inside the Gillom Athletics Sports Center.
Ole Miss (17-14) will take the floor against Southland Conference regular-season champion Stephen F. Austin (26-7) Wednesday at 6 p.m. in the first round. The other first-round match will be between SIUE (23-6) against Arkansas State (20-11) at 3 p.m. Winners will advance to the second round on Thursday at 6 p.m.
“Our team is really excited to get the opportunity to play more volleyball,” head coach Steven McRoberts said. “We are thankful we get to host three good programs at our facility this Wednesday and Thursday. We need our fans to come out and be loud like they have been all year.”
The Rebels finished the regular season by beating South Carolina 3-1, giving Ole Miss its fourth consecutive winning season.
Georgia is the other school joining Ole Miss in NIVC.
The NIVC is an annual tournament involving 32 of the nation’s top women’s Division I volleyball teams. All matches, including the semifinals and championship, are hosted by participating schools. Every round is single elimination. The Postseason NIVC features 16 first-round games, followed by eight second-round games, four third-round games, two semifinal games and the championship.
