Baptist Memorial Hospital–North Mississippi staff relocated patients from their old facility this morning to a new campus at 1100 Belk Boulevard in Oxford, hospital officials said.
The move began at 5 a.m. and was complete just after 10 a.m., with 79 patients being transferred.

Jeremy Jefcoat, a registered nurse who has worked at Baptist North Mississippi for 20 years, looked forward to assisting during the hospital’s opening day, but instead was admitted as the new hospital’s first patient. She suffered a spider bite while decorating her home for Christmas and was admitted at the old location on Wednesday. On Saturday morning, she was transferred and became the first person to be cared for in the new hospital.
During the hours that patients were being shuttled between hospitals by ambulances and wheelchair vans, traffic was blocked on South Lamar Boulevard to make the process run quickly and smoothly.
The Thanksgiving weekend was specifically chosen for the move because there have historically been a lower number of people who are hospitalized during that time.

The new 217-bed hospital is designed with patient privacy and comfort in mind. Expanded services include:
Onsite outpatient services for convenient follow-up care
Larger, family-friendly patient rooms
An expanded emergency department
Additional surgical suites and operating rooms
An enhanced ICU
The first hospital in the U.S. to install a Siemens hybrid operating room
Advanced technology and equipment
Convenient parking and access
The new Baptist Memorial Hospital-North Mississippi is located on Belk Boulevard, south of Highway 6 between South Lamar Boulevard and Old Taylor Road in Oxford.
