Ole Miss Women's Basketball Hosts Troy on the Hardwood
The Ole Miss women’s basketball team returns to action on Tuesday afternoon as they play host to the Troy Trojans at 2 p.m. inside the Pavilion.
Ole Miss (3-1) enjoyed a record-breaking weekend while defeating Delaware State 110-58 at the Maggie Dixon Classic in Chicago. The Rebels are averaging 85.2 points per game overall, including 92.3 PPG in those three wins.
The Rebels have been on fire from three in the early part of this season. They lead the SEC with a .419 clip from beyond the arc and rank fifth in the nation with 39 treys. Seven different Rebels have drained threes this season, with 35 of those coming from Madinah Muhammad (17), Shandricka Sessom (11) and Torri Lewis (7).
Troy stands at 2-0 on the year with wins against Stillman (89-62) and Alabama State (93-63). The Trojans made it to the first round of the NCAA Tournament last season but lost to the eventual national runner-up, Mississippi State.
Three Trojans enter Tuesday’s contest in double-digit scoring: Amber Rivers (18.5 PPG, 9.0 RPG), Janiah Sandifer (11.5 PPG) and Kayla Robinson (10.0 PPG).
As a team, Troy is shooting .412 from the field, .297 from three and .804 from the charity stripe, but they are also out-rebounding opponents by an average of 16.5 boards per game.
