DUI's, Defrauding Innkeeper, and More in Today's Crime Report
Oxford police responded to the following calls: Two 911 hang ups, 12 alarms, three ambulance assist, three animal complaints, five carless driving, two civil matters, defrauding innkeeper, nine disturbing the peace, embezzlement, two fire department assist, two grand larceny, harassing phone call, improper parking, two larceny-auto three lost property, seven noise violations, other agency assist, petit larceny, shoplifting, two simple assault, 11 suspicious activity, nine suspicious persons, suspicious vehicle, utility call out, 11 welfare concerns.
Oxford police investigated 19 accidents, 37 tickets and made the following arrest:

Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: four accidents, eight alarms, two animal complaints, six disturbances, domestic violence, petit larceny, two harassment, juvenile complaint, four malicious mischief, six service calls, four suspicious activities, nine welfare concerns, trespassing, 11 information, four follow up, unauthorized use of vehicle, traffic complaint, six reckless driving, 13 road obstructions, disturbing the peace.
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department made eight arrests

possession of marijuana in a vehicle, driving with a suspended license
bench warrant
2 contempt warrants
2 counts auto burglary, 5 counts grand larceny
possession of a weapon by a felon
driving with suspended license, 2 out of county warrants
Oxford Fire Department:
11/17 – 08:55 – The Depot – turned heater on for the 1st time activated a smoke detector
11/17 – Lafayette Place – possible heart attack – assisted EMS
11/17 – 13:47 – Winchester – stood by for chlorine tank to be changed
11/17 – 14:57 – New Baptist Hospital – workers installing washers and dryers activated the laundry room smoke detector
11/17 – 16:52 & 18:25 – North Residential College – steam from hot water from cleaning the floors activated a smoke detector
11/18 – 00:18 – Mugshots – fire alarm pull station was activated by water getting into detector
11/18 – 08:24 – Old Taylor Place Apt. K6 – cooking and caught stove on fire – resident had extinguished the fire
11/18 – 11:10 – Cash Saver -small fire in a fryer – fire out before FD arrived
11/18 – 18:10 – 1604 Buchanan – resident accidentally activated a smoke detector
11/19 – 09:09 – 416 South 5th Street – medical call – stood by for EMS
11/19 – 12:48 – 614 Berkeley Cove – call canceled en route
11/19 – 17:28 – 614 Berkeley Cove again – cooking activated the smoke detector and FD had to reset the alarm for them
11/20 – 04:30 – Malco Theater area Oxford Commons – caller advised she saw a fire in the area – the “fire” was an outside natural gas fireplace at the theater
