Within just two weeks of its soft opening, Thacker 564, the new restaurant co-owned by Oxford chef and restaurateur Michelle Rounsaville and chef Trey Bridgers, already has a perfect 5-star review rating on Facebook with 33 reviews.
The restaurant, located at 3000 Old Taylor Road, Suite C, opened in early November to positive response from local foodies. It’s Rounsaville’s second culinary success story – she is also owner of My Michelle’s, the North Lamar Avenue eatery known for its buffet lunch, grab-and-go casseroles and event catering. Prior to starting My Michelle’s, Rounsaville managed Oxford Steak Co. and PRIME Steakhouse.

Thacker 564 offers a dinner menu and happy hour specials as well as Sunday brunch. A recent brunch special featured a Chicken and Waffle Slider topped with an over-easy egg and root beer hot sauce syrup.

But the signature sandwiches – dreamed up by Rounsaville and chef Trey Bridgers – are the real stars of the menu. They include the Spirit, made with house pastrami, Swiss cheese and housemade pickles with whole-grain mustard on pumpernickel bread, and Faulkner’s Fave, featuring bourbon brown sugar-glazed smoked ham, brie and a mint Dijon sauce on brioche.
For culinary adventurers looking for something truly and deeply southern, there’s the Mississippi Gardener, boasting sweet potato and black-eyed pea cake, sweet and sour collard greens and Crystal Pepper sauce served on a wheatberry roll. And don’t forget the blackened catfish sandwich, called The River, which comes with provolone cheese, creole mayo and olive salad, all served on muffuletta bread.

Popular appetizers range from the fried okra spears, breaded with Grit Girl cornmeal and served with comeback sauce, to the baked brie topped with housemade berry bacon jam.
Then there’s the drinks menu, tailormade for fans of artisanal cocktails with enigmatic and evocative names, such as Frances Loves a Frose (featuring La Vielle Rose, Absolut Pear, St. Germaine liqueur, fresh lemon juice and pink guava puree) and Claude the Elder (Bulleit Rye, St. Germaine, fresh grapefruit, lemon, ginger puree and bitters).

Here’s a look at Thacker 564’s food menu. To view the cocktails and beer menus, visit www.thacker564.com and check out their Facebook and Instagram pages for more information.
