Ole Miss Rifle Team Posts Season-High Score in Kentucky Meet
After posting a season-high 4664 in their Great America Rifle Conference meet at the University of Kentucky last week, the Ole Miss Rifle Team heads to Jacksonville, Alabama, for the Gamecock Invitational on Saturday, Nov. 18, at Jacksonville State University.
Ole Miss came up short to No. 2 Kentucky in last week’s meet, but the team’s aggregate score was just two points shy of the school record set in 2006.
The Wildcats posted a team score of 4689.
Henrik Larsen, a freshman from Norway, led Kentucky with a 595 in smallbore, which tied Kentucky’s school record. His 596 in air rifle also led the Wildcats.
Kentucky took the lead in smallbore, scoring 2325, compared to a 2307 tallied by Ole Miss. Junior Harley Gardner led the Rebels in smallbore, firing a season-best 584. Abby Buesseler (578), Jessica Haig (573) and Hayley Carroll (572) also contributed to the team score.
Three Ole Miss freshmen—Emily Cock (579), Buesseler (578) and Kamilla Kisch (577)—set personal records. Buesseler also posted a perfect 200 in prone.
Ole Miss air rifle shooters were by freshmen Buesseler and Cock, who both scored 592. Buesseler’s score was a personal best while Cock tied her personal best. Haig (588) and Kisch (585) also contributed to the team score.
