Rebels Return to NCAA Soccer Tournament on Friday
The Ole Miss soccer team will take to the pitch this weekend as they open NCAA tournament play against Florida State on Friday at 6 p.m.
This is the Rebels’ first appearance in the NCAA tournament since 2015, when they made a run all the way to the Sweet 16.
This season, Ole Miss finished with a 10-6-3 overall record and scored huge Top 50 wins over Memphis and Arkansas.
Ole Miss was led in scoring this season by a dynamic one-two punch in junior CeCe Kizer with 16 goals and freshman Channing Foster with 12 goals on the net.
Florida State ended the regular season at 11-6-1, finishing seventh in the ACC.
The Seminoles are led by sophomore Deyna Castellanos, who tallied 15 goals on the season, adding three assists for 33 total points. Of Castellanos’ 15 goals, five were game-winners. Freshman Dallas Dorosy chipped in seven scores of her own, also dishing out three assists.
Ole Miss and FSU are no strangers to one another when it comes to facing off in the big dance as they have met in 2002 and in 2013.
A total of nine teams received bids into this year’s tournament.
