Rebels Prepare for Final Non-Conference Season Test
The Ole Miss Rebels are coming off a dramatic comeback win over Kentucky on Saturday in which freshman wideout D.K. Metcalf made a game-winning touchdown grab in the closing seconds of the game. Now they’re ready to come home to face Louisiana-Lafayette in their last non-conference game of the season.
Coach Matt Luke met with the media on Monday in his weekly press conference and talked about the Bluegrass Miracle and looked ahead to the Ragin’ Cajuns.
“Anytime you can go on the road in the SEC and get a win, it’s a good thing, but especially after the tough loss against Arkansas,” Luke said. “The kids [are] bouncing back and fighting and competing. [I’m] just really happy to see them in the locker room after getting that win, after everything they’ve been through.”
Louisiana-Lafayette travels to Oxford after beating South Alabama 19-14 and moving to 4-4 on the season.
“Just watching a little bit on Louisiana-Lafayette, I was very impressed with their interior defensive linemen – they’re very active,” Luke said. “Offensively, they took the redshirt off of a quarterback who can really run. We only have one game of film to watch on him, last week against South Alabama. He’s very mobile and does a good job with the zone read. I have a lot of respect for (head coach) Mark Hudspeth and Coach (offensive coordinator) Will Hall. I’ve known those guys for a long time. Looking forward to a great kickoff being back at home at Vaught-Hemingway.”
The Rebels and Louisiana-Lafayette will kick off at 11 a.m. on SEC Network.
