The Ole Miss Rebels are coming off a 38-37 heartbreaking loss to the Arkansas Razorbacks and will now turn their focus to the Kentucky Wildcats.

Coach Matt Luke met with media Monday to discuss this week’s conference matchup in the Bluegrass State.
“I was really impressed with our kids, coming in after a tough loss,” Luke said. “They are a very resilient group of kids. After watching the tape, I’m really pleased that they continue to fight and keep battling. We’ll have to do that again this week—get back up off the mat and keep fighting. Really impressed with Jordan Ta’amu’s performance. He had a couple of mistakes, but very impressive for his first start in the SEC. We’re going to continue to build off of that.”
Kentucky is coming off of a 29-26 point win over Tennessee. The Wildcats have been doing a great job running the ball this season.
“Very impressed with Coach Stoops and Kentucky, “ Luke said. “Benny Snell is one of the better running backs that we’ll face all season. They do a great job in the running game. It’s complimented by Stephen Johnson, their quarterback. He can run it and throw it. Defensively, they do a lot of moving around. They’re hard to get a bead on. So we’ll have our work cut out for us. Another big-time SEC road game.”
The Rebels and the Wildcats are in the same conference but they don’t play each other every season.
“That’s a challenge you enjoy, getting up to play a team you don’t play a whole bunch,” Luke said. “In my career, I’ve been in the SEC a long time and I’ve only played at Kentucky once, when I was with Tennessee in 2007. It’ll be a unique challenge and a fun challenge to go somewhere different. Obviously they’re doing a great job and have a really good team, so it’ll be a good challenge on the road.”
The Rebels and the Wildcats will meet at 3 p.m. on SECNetwork.
