Inside Peek: Southern Craft Stove + Tap
Oxford’s newest restaurant, Southern Craft Stove + Tap, opened last week at the Sansing at the Oxford Commons in time for the Ole Miss football game against LSU.
Oxford residents Griffin and Molly Tanner along with Bubba and Jennifer Gross opened the doors to their newest restaurant concept and welcomed close to 800 guests over the course of their first several days open.
The restaurant attracted many who wanted to enjoy a night off the Square and a family-friendly environment. On the exterior of the restaurant, is a fenced-in area for children with a ping-pong table, corn hole and more, along with their adjacent outdoor seating. With their folding glass garage doors, Southern Craft creates an indoor/outdoor environment with plenty of natural light and a place for relaxation.
We joined them Thursday evening for dinner and Friday for lunch to finally experience Southern Craft for ourselves!
“We want to create a place where everyone feels comfortable eating without compromising quality food for a family-friendly environment” Tanner said. “The kids can play on the playground, Mom can have a couple of appetizers and a nice glass of wine and Dad can have a burger with a craft beer. We are excited to offer that demographic something new.”
The restaurant places an emphasis on food and atmosphere, mixing the quality of fine dining with a “come as you are” environment. It will include a playground, banquet room, a bar, seated dining, catering and an ever-shaded patio.
Southern Craft Stove + Tap managing partner, Bubba Gross, “brings an original menu based on his love of Southern cuisine and local ingredients to the table.”
“I’ve been passionate about creating recipes since I was a young kid,” said Gross, a classically-trained chef. “I enjoy putting my stamp on things and making people happy. This concept is great. You don’t have to make plans, just get up and go and experience a menu that can suit anyone.”
Southern Craft’s kitchen hours will be Monday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. The bar will be open to reflect Oxford’s legal operational hours for alcohol. See their menus here.
