EatingOxford: Community Donuts Opening in November
Donuts, muffins, fritters, kolaches, breakfast tacos, croissant sandwiches, biscuits and more are all on the menu at the soon-to-open Community Donuts at 1703 University Avenue.
Owner Rose Sam said she stumbled across the former My Guys building during a visit to Oxford with her son for Ole Miss Orientation Day.
“I fell in love with Oxford, and when I saw the building I thought, that is perfect for a donut shop,” she said.
Community Donuts will have its interior and drive-through window open Monday through Saturday from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 6 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Students with a valid ID benefit from tax-free donuts, according to Sam.
“We wanted to give something to the local students, so we’re not charging them tax on donuts,” she said.
The shop will also offer a Bonus Card, which awards a free dozen donuts after the purchase of 10 dozen.
Menu highlights will include a full lineup of glazed, frosted, filled and specialty donuts alongside cinnamon rolls, eclairs, muffins and donut holes. Savory items include sausage and cheese kolaches; sausage or bacon egg and cheese biscuits or tacos; ham, bacon or sausage egg and cheese croissants; and a variety of beverages.
Sam currently owns another outpost of Community Donuts in Southaven and is in the process of moving to Oxford to manage the Oxford shop.
Community Donuts Oxford has a planned opening date of Nov. 27, just after Thanksgiving weekend.
