Board and Brush Creative Studio Opens on University Avenue
A young entrepreneur has just opened an exciting new business, Board and Brush Creative Studio, here in Oxford. The business is located at 1525 University Avenue (Corner Mall) directly across the street from the Pizza Hut.
Cassidy Broadaway, a native of Greenbrier, Arkansas, received her education at two celebrated schools – Savannah College of Art and Design and later at the Art Institute of Pittsburgh.
Board and Brush features a “classroom atmosphere” where clients learn to work with raw wood, creating unique designs in the process. The classes typically run three hours during which the students are able to choose from seven stains and 70 paint colors in composing their masterpiece for either their home decor or business. There are over 200 designs available from which to select.
The classes are fun, reasonably priced and tremendously rewarding as customers leave with their own creation, according to Broadaway.
“It doesn’t force people to be freehand artists as we work off stencils,” Broadaway said.
Board and Brush operates on a studio schedule, typically holding several weeknight and weekend classes.
Board and Brush is also an excellent venue for ‘A Ladies Night Out,’ Broadaway said, as well as other private occasions or birthday and Christmas parties. Groups ranging between 10 and 20 are preferred. And if a party is booked that month, the host or hostess is comped.
Prior to Broadaway’s entrepreneurship, she was perfecting her customer service skills in managing stores like Old Navy and Belk. It was just this year that she was introduced to the blossoming Board and Brush franchise in Little Rock and now has brought it to Lafayette County.
Those interested can access the website at www.boardandbrush.com/oxford and register online for a class. To book a private party for a time not listed on their calendar, email Broadaway at oxford@boardandbrush.com.
