False Pretense, Suspicious Activity and More in Today's Crime Report
Oxford police responded to the following calls: Two 911 hang-ups, four alarms, ambulance assist, two careless driving, three disturbing the peace, false pretense, fire department assist, K9 search, three malicious mischief, motorist assist, other agency assist, petit larceny, suspicious activity, two suspicious persons, vagrancy, two welfare concerns.
Oxford police investigated nine accidents, 38 tickets and made the following arrest:
DUI 1st, Speeding
Simple Assault
2 DUI 1st, Possession of paraphernalia
Possession of schedule 1 drug, possession of Schedule 5 drug, possession of marijuana with intent
Suspended Driver’s License, Seatbelt violation
No driver’s license, No insurance
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: Accident, five alarms, six disturbances, two suspicious activities, welfare concern, scam, two transports, information, reckless driving.
Lafayette Sheriff’s Department made no arrests
Oxford Fire Department:
10:49 – 1501 West Jackson Ave. – wreck with injuries – FD provided 1st aid until EMS arrived
14:09 – New Baptist Hospital – cleaning floors in mechanical room activated the fire alarm system
15:08 – Boys and Girls Club – kid accidentally hit a fire alarm pull station
20:17 – 189 Pegues Road – stove grease fire caught cabinets and ceiling on fire – FD extinguished it quickly
University Police: Minor in possession of alcohol, accident property damage, accident hit and run, vehicle stop.
