Chicory Market Grand Opening: A Dream Come True
Chicory Market owners Kate Bishop and John Martin are seeing their dream come true in the form of a fully stocked grocery store with local products. Chicory Market will celebrate the completion of this goal with a grand opening on Sunday, Oct. 8.
The Chicory Market brought the original farmer’s market store back to life in June of 2017 with local produce. The store has quickly transformed from a great place to buy fruits and vegetables to a full store that offers almost any food item needed in the kitchen.
“What we want people to understand is that we are more than just a farm stand,” Martin said. “We have great local produce, but we also have all of the other food items you will need, too.”
Martin’s promise holds true with shelves stocked with fresh ground peanut butter, locally made bread, organic chips and different flavors of kombucha. The coolers are also full of cheeses, locally raised meat and harvest eggs, milk, cream and much more.
“The Southern Magnolia gelato is the best I’ve ever had,” said frequent store customer Jacob McGee. “They have so many flavors, and I love that it is made from ingredients I recognize and can also buy right here in Oxford at Chicory Market.”
The grand opening celebration will kick off at 1 p.m. on Sunday and will include live music, Heartbreak Coffee, BBQ by Smoke Shop with sides and snacks by Tarasque and T.H. Freeland of Saint Leo, and a tasting of the new Chicory Market menu. Good Food for Oxford Schools and Mississippi Sustainable Agriculture Network will also be on hand to provide children’s activities and family fun.
Chicory Market will also unveil their finished kitchen and premade food items in the week following the grand opening.
