Oxford Police Department Announces The Square “Safe Site”
Beginning Wednesday, September 13, 2017, Oxford Police Department will have a Safe Site tent set up in front Visit Oxford for downtown patrons. Uniformed officers will be available for patrons that feel unsafe, need aid finding transit home, would like an escort to their vehicle, or any police assistance. The Safe Site tent will be accessible Wednesday through Saturday at 8:00 pm until 45 minutes after the bars close. Safe Site is not a place to get a ride but will assist patrons in finding one.
Visit Oxford is located at 1013 Jackson Ave. East across from Funky’s Pizza. If for any reason there is not an officer located at the tent feel free to call the department at 232-2400. In the event of an emergency where police assistance is needed dial 911.

Can they promise no banana peels hanging from the trees or lampposts around the Square??? 🙂 Wouldn’t want anyone to feel “triggered” !

Hmm. When I was a kid growing up in Oxford the whole Square was considered a “safe site.”
I guess times have changed a bit.

The next step is to put a police officer in everybody’s home. We’ll really be safe then!
