Ole Miss Soccer Begins SEC Play Against Florida On Thursday
This weekend, the Ole Miss soccer team steps into conference action on Thursday night against the Florida Gators. On Sunday, the Rebels will close out its non-conference tilt against Stetson.
Coach Matt Mott’s squad continues to light up the score board. Last week, the Rebels blanked Tulsa and Memphis to move to 7-0-1 on the season.
On Monday, coach Mott discussed this week’s slate of matches with the media in attendance at the weekly press conference.
“We are 7-0-1 and have one non-conference game left with Stetson Sunday and then its all conference, Mott said. “We start off with Florida right now scheduled for Thursday on the SEC Network down in Gainesville, but we are waiting to see how the hurricane has affected them and if there will be any changes to the schedule, but for right now we are preparing for Florida on Thursday night.”
Freshman Channing Foster has been a true spark for the Rebels offense this season in scoring production. As she placed the lone goal of the match in the net against Memphis.
“Channing Foster scored an absolute laser from about 35-yards out with about a minute to go in the first half to get us to halftime with a 1-0 lead and our defense took over. We have been scoring a ton, but the defense has really not had a lot to do and last night they were tested by a very good Memphis team that has scored a ton of goals this year,” Mott said.
