Traditions by U Club Townhomes: Trash Can Friday Returns, Are You Ready?
Trash Can Fridays have officially returned! Walking across campus this morning, students, faculty, staff, and visitors were greeted by the sight of more than 2,500 red and blue trash cans and 300 recycling bins being placed in the Grove, in the Circle, and along sidewalks in anticipation of the thousands of fans that will be pouring in on Saturday morning.
For longtime Rebel fans, the return of the red and blue trash cans brings a feeling of excitement and a smile to their faces. For those who have never experienced this magical day on campus, it is when even the beautiful green Grove is transformed into a sea of red and blue on game day.
“Getting to campus and seeing the trash cans out on Friday is the best part of my week,” said Jontae Warren, senior pre-pharmacy major. “It shows to me that we value our campus and our traditions and that we’re ready for football season.”
This Trash Can Friday is a little more special than the others throughout the fall because this is the signal that football season is finally here. The trash cans are out, the hotels are booked, the stores and restaurants are stocking up, and game day is less than 24 hours away. Are You Ready?

It’s so special to have commercial sponsors of our traditions.
It makes our traditions much more valuable.
Perhaps U Club Townhomes will support nature and beauty and sponsor the trees in the Grove. That would be incredibly nice on their part. Then, whenever we see a tree, we will think of U Club!
