Coming off an appearance at the 2017 NCAA Championships and crowning the first individual national champion in program history, the Ole Miss men’s golf team announced its schedule for the upcoming 2017-18 season. Highlighting the slate are three tournaments in which the Rebels will enter as defending champions.
“I am extremely pleased with how our schedule came together for this season,” said head coach Chris Malloy. “We are playing some of the best golf courses and traveling to destinations that some people can only dream of going, all while competing against the top teams in the country. I know that our guys are extremely excited to get the season started!”
Ole Miss will begin the season Sept. 25-26 at the prestigious Shoal Creek Golf Club in Birmingham, Alabama, site of two past PGA Championships and the host of the 2018 U.S. Women’s Open. The Rebels follow their season opener with a trip north to Milwaukee, Wisconsin for the Marquette Invitational (Oct. 1-3) before heading to The Grove Intercollegiate in Nashville, Tennessee (Oct. 8-10) to defend their 2016 tournament title. Closing out the fall portion of the schedule, Ole Miss and 2017 national champion Braden Thornberry will return to the island of Hawaii (Oct. 29-31) as the returning victors of the Princeville Warrior Invitational.
To kick off the spring, the Rebels will tee it up at the All-American Intercollegiate in Houston, Texas (Feb. 16-18). After two weeks off, Ole Miss will leave the country for the Querencia Cabo Collegiate in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico (March 4-6) before remaining out west as the defending champions of the Lamkin San Diego Classic (March 12-13).
Ole Miss will spend a pair of weeks in the Carolinas, first competing in the Hootie at Bulls Bay in Charleston, South Carolina (March 25-27) for the second consecutive season, while the Gary Koch Intercollegiate will take place in Gastonia, North Carolina over two days (April 9-10). The Rebels will close out the regular season in their home state, playing at pristine Old Waverly Golf Club in West Point, Mississippi (April 16-17).
The SEC Championships will take place at Sea Island, Georgia, April 25-29, while NCAA Regionals are set for May 14-16 at various host sites. The 2018 NCAA Championships will take place at Karsten Creek Golf Club in Stillwater, Oklahoma (May 25-30).
