Art-er Limits Fringe Fest Events Are Out Of This World

The fourth annual Art-er Limits Fringe Fest is just around the corner and its event schedule will take the Oxford art world by storm. The action packed festival will host 50 events over just four days beginning on Thursday August 3. The Art-er Limits Fringe Fest was created four years ago when the Yoknapatawpha Arts Council (YAC) realized that there was a set of artists and talents in the area that did not have their own venue or event to showcase their work.

“We realized Oxford, and Mississippi as a whole had a diverse range of talents that often did not get highlighted,” said YAC executive director, Wayne Andrews. “We thought if we could group these art forms into one weekend we could make it an event and attendees would explore all the options offered.”

The festival will kick off on Thursday night with the Iron Bartender event. At the Iron Bartender, bartenders from around Oxford create cocktails on the spot from a basket of secret ingredients. Guests taste the bartender’s creations and decide the winners by voting for their favorite cocktail.
On Friday and Saturday, the schedule is packed full of children’s activities, art demos, film screenings, musical performances, and even a burlesque show. The featured events on these two days include GUMP: With your Pal, Charlie Davis, Co-Motion Hula Hoop Show, Just Larry – Magician & Blockhead, and 3-Brained Robot. art-er limits

On Sunday the festival will conclude with the Food Truck Fight at the Old Armory Pavilion. The Food Truck Fight is an event that supports nonprofits in the Oxford area. Participating food trucks this year include Fergndan’s Pizza, Mugg Cakes, YoknapaTaco, Sweetwater Bleu’z Creole & Cajun, Small Time Hot Dogs, and Oxsicles.
With 50 events packed into four days, it can be hard to decide which activities to participate in and where to go. Thankfully, YAC has created a guide and description of all 50 events. The full event schedule, including coupons and information on ticket purchases, can be found here
