Hugh Freeze has made his first public comments since stepping down as the head coach of the Ole Miss football team. Freeze resigned last Thursday amid reports of calls linked to an escort service. The calls led to an internal investigation by Ole Miss Chancellor Jeff Vitter and AD Ross Bjork during which they uncovered a “concerning pattern” of behavior in Freeze’s personal life.
While speaking with USA Today, Freeze did not directly address the circumstances surrounding his resignation. The former Rebel coach said that his family is standing by him.
“God is good, even in difficult times,’’ Freeze told USA TODAY Sports. “Wonderful wife and family, and that’s my priority.’’
Freeze went on to say that he planned on watching his daughter’s volleyball match and meeting with his pastor.
