Lafayette County Students Selected As Class Marshal And Standard Bearer

Two Lafayette county residents are among 16 University of Mississippi students to be named Class Marshal and Standard Bearer for their respective colleges or schools. Students chosen for this honor led the graduating class of their college or school into University of Mississippi Commencement exercises held on May 13, 2017.
Yujing Zhang of Oxford was named the Bachelor’s of Science in Pharmaceutical Sciences Class Marshal for the School of Pharmacy. The title is awarded to the student with the highest grade point average on required PY1 courses. Zhang, who graduated with a degree in pharmaceutical sciences, plans to continue her education at the UM School of Pharmacy to pursue a doctor of Pharmacy. During her time at the university she was inducted into the Class of 2017 Student Hall of Fame, selected as Taylor Medalist and served on the Columns Society. She is the daughter of Darryl Scott Stevens Jinping Stevens of Oxford.
Megan Leigh Garner, also of Oxford, was recognized as the Standard Bearer for the University of Mississippi School of Business. The title is awarded to the student with the second highest grade point average in the class. Megan Leigh Garner is a senior marketing major who has accepted a graduate assistantship with the MBA program at The University of Mississippi and will begin upon graduating in May. She is a member of Ole Miss Diamond Girls, Ole Miss Running Club, Delta Gamma Fraternity, Order of Omega, Who’s Who, Gamma Beta Phi, Beta Gamma Sigma, Omicron Delta Kappa, Phi Kappa Phi and Mortar Board Honor Societies. She has been awarded Outstanding Student in Elementary Italian, Provost Scholar, Standard Bearer for the School of Business, Kristofer G. Mihalyka Scholarship and the Distinguished Senior Scholarship. She is the daughter of Leigh Garner Christian from Oxford.
