Northwest Earns No. 13 Preseason Ranking By Street & Smith’s 2017 College Football Preview Magazine
Coming off back-to-back bowl games and consecutive top 10 finishes in the NJCAA, Northwest Mississippi Community College has received a No. 13 preseason ranking in Street & Smith’s 2017 College Football Preview magazine.
Compiled by junior college sportswriter Tony Jimenez for the nationally distributed college football magazine that is currently available on newsstands nationwide, Street & Smith’s Top 25 preseason rankings considered all 134 of the nation’s two-year schools that feature football programs, including the 69 competing members of the California Community College Athletic Association (CCCAA).
Defending NJCAA national champion Garden City is No. 1, followed by 2016 CCCAA state champion Fullerton College (Calif.), East Mississippi, Arizona Western and Trinity Valley (Texas) to round out the top five.
Northwest is coming off a 9-3 season, MACJC runner-up finish and its third bowl appearance in the last five years. The Rangers will have to replace a ton on both sides of the ball this season, with 25 players inking with four-year programs in the offseason (18 to Division I).
Northwest will kickoff the 2017 campaign on Thursday, Aug. 31 at 6:30 p.m. against Hinds in Senatobia.
