Homeward Bound Brings Therapeutic Service For Oxford Dogs Like Never Before

Published

Eight years ago Kellie Owens brought Homeward Bound to Oxford, offering services for your families best friend like never before. Homeward Bound offers an abundance of different care options for your dog.

“The Homeward Bound team is committed to the mental, physical and emotional well-being of the pets under our care and to delivering exceptional pet care and client service,” said Owens. “We will ensure a safe and secure environment, treat every animal with respect and kindnesses and maintain client privacy, security, and confidentiality.”
Homeward Bound provides in-home pet care from nanny’s and sitters. They are trained and provide services such as visiting with your pets, feeding them, and taking your pets out for walks.
They also provide a mobile grooming service, that provides the same holistic approach to dog grooming as their “Spaw.”
Homeward Bound’s newest edition is their Spaw, which is a doggie day care. Their Spaw has many features from their Spaw rooms, Zen rooms, and Spaw Pad. All three areas focus on “The 5 Senses Approach”, which is defined as a whole body approach to dog grooming. The approach is built around the natural cycle of the hair and skin, and an awareness of activating their senses; smell, sound, sight, touch, and the all powerful taste.
“We are focused on the complete pup from the tip of their nose to the tip of their tail and toes,” said Owens.
Homeward Bound prides themselves on being a place you can take your dog where it is stress-free and cage free.
“Our one person, one dog appointment based method is founded on a positive experience by building a trusting relationship between our staff and your dog,” said Owens.
Spaw Room

The Spaw room is a therapeutic, mindful, holistic approach to dog grooming. Services include blueberry facial scrub, bath with massaging bath brush, no-nonsense essential oil spray, and much more. Every spa treatments customized to fit each dog needs.
“We had a puppy in here, who was jumping all over the map and we just treated him like an A.D.D. child and changed the station to something that sounded more upbeat, and just like that he relaxed,” said Owens.
Zen Room

The Zen room offers an enjoyable (no cage), relaxing environment for those few moments between arrival and departure from The Spaw. Aromatherapy, soothing spa tunes, visual imagery, low lighting, soft poufs and organic grain-free treats provide a blissful beginning and end to their Spaw Day experience.
The Spaw Pad

The Spaw Pad is the front patio and garden space. For pups and their peeps to relax, enjoy some fresh air, commune with others, or just enjoy a quiet moment. With a shade arch and waterfall that doubles as a drinking fountain, private seating area, and a green space to meet your pup personal needs. Located across from the Chancellors House Hotel.
“Anyone walking their dog on the Square is invited to come into our little oasis in the busy downtown area. Pet owners can drink their cup of coffee while their dog drinks from the free flowing fountain,” said Owens.
