Oxford Looks To Bounce Back After Losing Game One

The Oxford Chargers baseball team looks to even up the 5A State Championship series with Pearl River Central Friday at Trustmark Park. First pitch is set for 1 p.m.

The Chargers (31-6) dropped the first game Tuesday by a score of 8-4 to the Blue Devils. Oxford was led at the plate by senior Preston Perkins and junior CJ Terrell, who each had two hits in the game. Perkins also delivered three RBIs in the game.
Senior Ben Bianco came home to score two runs in the game.
Coach Chris Baughman’s club had a two nothing led over Pearl River going into the bottom of the fifth where the Blue Devils scratched a run across. The Chargers answered with two runs of their own in the top of the 6th, before PRC scored 7 unanswered runs to win the game.
The Blue Devils had production up and down from there lineup as eight of nine players delivered hits in the game. Juniors Eli Lee and Josh Kennedy each had three hits in the game. Lee also led PRC with two RBI’s.
As the Chargers hope to win three straight 5A State titles, they will need a win to force game three on Saturday.
