Square Garage Design Team Ready For Public Input At Tonight's Meeting
In April, Ely Guild Hardy Architects was chosen as the firm to head up the design of the new parking garage set to be located on the Oxford Square. Today, they begin the process of garnering feedback from the Oxford community on the potential design of the structure.
The entire design team will be in attendance for an open forum where Oxonians can ask questions about the process or give ideas and opinions about the design of the new garage. Oxford’s Parking Director Matt Davis noted that these meetings are essential to ensure that the project is done with the public in mind.
“As a public project, the City wants to get as much information from the public regarding this large of an event,” he said. “We want to continue to be as transparent as we can to make sure the public is fully involved with all aspects of their local government.”
While no deadline is set for a design to be proposed, the city has set a tentative goal of beginning construction in January 2018, according to City Engineer Bart Robinson.
Tonight’s meeting will begin at 5 p.m. at the Oxford Conference Center.
