Felony Shoplifting, High Number Of Arrests And More In Today's Crime Report
Oxford police responded to the following calls: 13 alarms, five improper parking, six reported DUI, three 911 hang-ups, eight suspicious persons, three suspicious vehicles, three reports of lost property, four petit larceny, eight welfare concern, two motorist assist, 16 disturbing the peace, nine suspicious activity, ambulance assist, two residential burglaries, two reports of recovered property, two malicious mischief, two harassing phone call, shoplifting, animal complaint.
Oxford police investigated 18 wrecks, issued 101 traffic citations and made arrests on the following charges:

Lafayette Sheriff’s Department responded to the following incidents: Four accidents, five alarms, animal complaint, residential burglary (CR 104), 11 disturbances, grand larceny, harassment, four juvenile complaints, 16 service calls, five suspicious activities, two vandalism, six welfare concerns, scam, four transports, trespassing, civil matter, six traffic complaints, traffic check point detail, follow up.
Lafayette Sheriff’s department made seven arrests

domestic violence, simple assault
domestic violence, aggravated assault
receiving stolen property
felony shoplifting warrant
contempt warrant
Oxford Fire Department:
Grilling food activated a smoke detector on campus at the Small Business Development Center.
Residents playing activated a second floor smoke detector at the Pi Kappa Phi house.
Cooking bacon caused a grease fire in room 118 of Pittman Hall.
Spray painting the door activated the smoke detector in room 301 of Sigma Pi house.
A/C unit belt going bad and smoking activated detectors at Bondurant Hall.
University Police: 15 vehicle stops, suspicious vehicle, possession of alcoholic beverage under 21, two possession of drug paraphernalia, six assist with traffic , three ambulance needed, two fire reports, larceny, malicious mischief, vandalism to vehicle.
