John Grisham Returns To Square Books On June 20th
For the first time in 25 years, best-selling author John Grisham will be going on a public tour for the release of his latest novel “Camino Island.” On the exclusive tour, Grisham will return to where it all began here in Oxford and will be signing copies of his book at Square Books on June 20th. Grisham attended law school at Ole Miss and has a home here in Oxford.
The signing will be limited to 200 people, and a raffle will be held to determine who’ll get the opportunity to meet Grisham. Anyone who wants to win a chance to attend must pre-order a copy of “Camino Island” and their name will be entered to win. If you don’t win one of the 200 spots on the list, you are still guaranteed a signed first-edition copy of the book.
“It’s a publisher rule but since everyone loves John Grisham, we wanted to be fair to everyone and we decided to hold the raffle,” Square Books employee Katelyn o’Brien said. No matter what though you get a signed copy of the book so it’s a win-win.”
Even when he wasn’t on tour, Grisham took the time to sign copies of his newest novels for Square Books, but now that he’s back on tour, O’Brien is eager for Grisham to make his return to the famed bookstore after many years.
“It’s been 25 years since he’s done a public tour. He signed his first book here when he was first getting started and he’s always come back faithfully for almost every book. The line would go around the square and he’d have to ice his arm from signing so many copies. He’s always been a really good friend of the store, the town and the university.”
The book signing will take place from 1 p.m – 5 p.m. Following the book signing, attendees can listen to a live interview with Grisham at Off Square Books. Entries for the raffle will be accepted from now until May 19th at 9 p.m. central time.
“Camino Island” hits shelves on June 6th, and its plot can be read below
“A gang of thieves stage a daring heist from a secure vault deep below Princeton University’s Firestone Library. Their loot is priceless, but Princeton has insured it for twenty-five million dollars. Bruce Cable owns a popular bookstore in the sleepy resort town of Santa Rosa on Camino Island in Florida. He makes his real money, though, as a prominent dealer in rare books. Very few people know that he occasionally dabbles in the black market of stolen books and manuscripts. Mercer Mann is a young novelist with a severe case of writer’s block who has recently been laid off from her teaching position. She is approached by an elegant, mysterious woman working for an even more mysterious company. A generous offer of money convinces Mercer to go undercover and infiltrate Bruce Cable’s circle of literary friends, ideally getting close enough to him to learn his secrets. But eventually Mercer learns far too much, and there’s trouble in paradise as only John Grisham can deliver it.”
