Rebel Road Trip Set To Begin Sunday In Nashville

Published

Sunday will kick-off the sixth annual Rebel Road Trip, as Ole Miss AD Ross Bjork, Chancellor Jeff Vitter, head football coach Hugh Freeze, and other members of the Rebel staff will travel across three states and speak to Rebel Nation. The tradition began when Ole Miss had a lot questions regarding their first-year head coach and AD, as a way to let fans in on what was happening in Oxford, the Athletic Administration decided to take the show on the road.
“With new leadership in Athletics that first year, we saw an opportunity to launch a new format that would not only introduce Ross and Coach Freeze to Rebel Nation but also maximize these meetings by ramping up the marketing, generating a media buzz and attracting new fans that might not already be involved with the university.”
Having been to 35 markets across in the first five years, this year’s road trip will take the team to Nashville, Dallas, Greenville, Corinth, Pascagoula, Tupelo and Oxford. The trip has resulted in over 19,000 fans coming out to show their support for Ole Miss athletics. During the season, fans come to Oxford and Cambell wants this event to show that same gratitude to the fans.
“We have enjoyed tremendous crowds every year. Last year saw the largest attendance numbers in our history,” Campbell said. “We ask our fans to come to Oxford and support our teams, so this is our chance to go to their cities and personally thank them. We are grateful to have this sort of direct interaction with our fanbase.”
After a 5-7 2016 season and question marks about the NCAA investigation, the message of the trip will remain consistent asking for unity among the Ole Miss community.
“Like every year, we will celebrate our core values and share our goals for the upcoming year. Now more than ever, we need Rebel Nation to pull the rope in the same direction, and we look forward to spreading that message across the region.”
The Rebel Road Trip will begin on 23rd in Nashville and conclude in Oxford on the 28th. Events will also be held in Jackson and Memphis in July. A complete schedule can be seen below. Tickets can be found on OleMissSports.com
