What To Do In Oxford When It Rains
Oxford is known for its greenery, shopping and so much more that requires being outside to enjoy. Today was a reminder that it’s not always sunny here in Oxford, and when it’s not, you need something to do. Since there’s a 100 percent chance of rain tomorrow, you might want to know about the five best things to do in Oxford when it’s raining.
- Eat
Oxford has more restaurants than one can imagine, so don’t let the rain ruin the chance to enjoy one of them. Granted you have to eat no matter what the weather is like, there’s something relaxing about enjoying a long meal inside while the rain continues.
2. Drink
Enjoying a “beverage” of any kind at a nice place with friends and conversation will get you through any rainy day. It could be a classy bar with real glasses or a dive bar with plastic cups, it’s all about what’s in it. Just like restaurants, there are no shortage of these kinds of places in Oxford either.
3. Go Bowling
Am I good at? No. Are most people? Not usually, but it’s fun to try anyway. Grab a group of friends and knock some pins over with a heavy ball. It’s not only fun watching your friends roll a gutter ball, but it’s also a way to act like a kid again whereas before you had to worry about tests, work or whatever else you may be stressed about. Speaking of feeling like a kid, the bowling alley also has all those fun arcade games, and nothing makes you forget about the rain like being ticket rich.
4. See A Movie
Rain and movies go together like peanut butter and jelly. It’s a go-to activity when the weather is bad. It wasn’t raining when I went, but I just saw Fate of the Furious and it was awesome; plus its two hours and 40 minutes long, so maybe the rain will be over by the time the movie ends. There’s a new Disney movie out about animals in China, and who doesn’t love pandas? Power Rangers and Beauty and the Beast are still out if you’re looking for some nostalgia.
5. Do Nothing
Everyone needs an excuse to do nothing, and rain is the perfect chance. When someone asks you what did on a rainy day and you say “nothing,” they won’t bat an eye. If you say the same thing on a beautiful day, they’ll wonder what’s wrong with you. As a lazy person, I don’t think there’s anything wrong with doing nothing, no matter what the weather looks like, but rain gives everyone an excuse to take a day to relax.
