Dalton Minton Selected MACJC Pitcher Of The Week
Northwest Mississippi Community College sophomore left-hander Dalton Minton was named the MACJC Pitcher of the Week on Tuesday after a vote of the league’s sports information directors.
The weekly conference award is the first in Minton’s two-year career and warranted after a superb performance in a 3-1 game two win at Mississippi Gulf Coast on Saturday.
Minton scattered four hits, one run (unearned), seven strikeouts and two walks in his third complete-game of the season and fifth of his career. After allowing a run in the first, he hung six consecutive zeros and whirled 85 of his 120 pitches for strikes.
The Horn Lake product improved to 6-2 on the year with a 1.20 ERA, both team-bests, and has struck out 45 batters in 41 innings of work.
Minton and the Rangers continue a 10-game road swing at 20th-ranked Mississippi Delta on Wednesday.
