Chancellor Vitter Writes Letter Of Gratitude To Mayor Patterson
To outgoing Mayor of Oxford, Pat Patterson:
On behalf of the entire Ole Miss family — students, faculty, staff, alumni, and friends — thank you for all your work over the last eight years as mayor of Oxford in partnering with the university to maintain and enhance the finest town-gown relationship in the country.
We are tremendously grateful for your leadership in this special LOU community made up of the county, city and university. I have the honor of working with many of the people who do the things — big and small — that make Oxford and Ole Miss a sought-after destination and home for students, retirees, scholars, entrepreneurs, families and so many others. Our community has been fortunate to count you as one of those people.
The growth of Ole Miss, Oxford and Lafayette County requires close cooperation and coordination. We appreciate your unwavering commitment to working toward the best outcomes for all of us. On a daily basis, you demonstrate your devotion to Oxford and Ole Miss. Whether it is your personal tours of the community or at a ribbon cutting event, you are one of our most avid ambassadors and recruiters.
On a personal note, Sharon and I want to thank you for making us feel so welcome. Your friendship and counsel were important to us when we arrived at Ole Miss, and I look forward to continuing our friendship as you take on new and exciting challenges beyond the Mayor’s Office.
Thanks, Pat!
Jeffrey S. Vitter
