Harley Smith Selected MACJC Pitcher Of The Week
Northwest Mississippi Community College freshman pitcher Harley Smith has been named the MACJC Softball Pitcher of the Week for her performance in sweeps over Mississippi Delta and Hinds.
Smith is the first Ranger pitcher in four years to earn the weekly conference award and will now be eligible for NJCAA national honors to be announced on Wednesday.
The Lake Cormorant product was superb in four outings last week, going 4-0 with a 0.29 ERA and 23 strikeouts against only one walk in 24 innings of work. She was equally as impressive at the plate, finishing 7-for-10 with three doubles, a triple and a pair of RBIs.
Smith leads Northwest in the circle with a 9-5 record and 3.40 ERA in 22 appearances. She has seven complete games, four combined shutouts and has struck out 76 batters (15th in NJCAA) against eight walks in 92.2 innings pitched.
Northwest will host 14th-ranked Itawamba on Thursday for a 2 p.m. doubleheader.
