Ole Miss Tennis Concludes Homestand Against Auburn
The Ole Miss men’s tennis team welcomes Auburn into Palmer/Salloum Tennis Center Thursday afternoon to wrap up a three-match homestand.
Ole Miss (6-6, 1-4 SEC) looks to rebound from this four-match losing streak. On Saturday, South Carolina won in a 4-3 hard-fought match. Gustav Hansson, Tim Sandkaulen and Fabian Fallert all won their singles matches, but the Rebels dropped a tight doubles point that proved to be the difference in the match.
Auburn (11-7, 2-2) went 2-1 on its Spring Break road swing, posting wins at No. 34 Vanderbilt and at Belmont on Saturday. The road trip started last Thursday in Lexington, where No. 17 Kentucky was a 6-1 winner. The Tigers are led by 67th-ranked Max Hinnisdaels, who owns a 7-6 record at No. 1 singles. He is also ranked No. 18 in doubles with Conner Huertas.
A key potential match setter will be in the No. 1 doubles match, which will feature two teams in the top 20 in the latest rankings. Ole Miss’ Fabian Fallert and Grey Hamilton are ranked No. 13, while Auburn’s top duo is ranked No. 18. Ricardo Jorge and Zvonimir Babic have won five in a row and are undefeated in dual matches at 5-0, 3-0 in the SEC.
Ole Miss and Auburn have faced off 59 times with the Tigers taking last year’s meeting 4-3 over on the Plains. However, the Rebels do lead the all-time series 31-28.
This SEC match will begin at 1 p.m.
