Actor Danny Glover Visits Oxford Today, But Not For Ole Miss Baseball
Remember “Angels In The Outfield?” How could we forget, right? Well, Coach Knox (Danny Glover) happens to be in Oxford today, right as Ole Miss Baseball opens up the 2017 season. So, now not only is the name Danny Glover ironic, but the timing of Glover’s visit couldn’t be more perfect.
What may surprise you, though, is that Glover isn’t here to watch baseball. In fact, he’s scheduled to speak at the Farley Auditorium (Room 202) on the Ole Miss Campus at 5 p.m., where he will discuss worker rights and the March On Mississippi that is to take place in Canton, Mississippi, on March 4.
Glover came to Oxford to attend Oxford Film Festival’s showing of “I Am Not Your Negro,” which is set for 7 p.m. at the Malco Commons. Prior to the showing, Glover will give a speech in the lobby of the theater.
Although Glover is in town to discuss far more serious matters, we hope that his presence can bring some angelic luck to the Rebels as they take on ECU in a top ten showdown on the diamond.
If the opportunity arises, take some time to go listen to Mr. Glover speak, and maybe, then, we will be blessed with some Angels in the Outfield.
