Baseball Sets Season Tickets Record
Rebel Nation is ready for the 2017 Ole Miss Baseball season after breaking a school record for season tickets sold. With three days remaining until the opening game, Ole Miss Baseball season ticket holders have grown to more than 6,000 and counting, snapping the mark of 5,877 last season.
“This new season tickets record truly shows that we have the best fans in college baseball,” said Ole Miss head coach Mike Bianco. “More than 6,000 members of Rebel Nation are dedicated to Ole Miss Baseball. For that, our team is extremely thankful, and we cannot wait to join them at Swayze Field this Friday.”
Last season, Ole Miss fans came out in record numbers to support the Rebels and provide a major home-field advantage. A total of 291,714 watched games at Swayze Field throughout the 2016 campaign, averaging to 8,579 per game. Both numbers set new program records. With the best atmosphere in college baseball, Ole Miss has ranked top five nationally for each of the past 10 seasons.
The Rebels have won over 70 percent of their home games throughout the past 28 seasons. The combination of winning baseball plus an electric fan base makes Oxford-University Stadium/Swayze Field a bucket list item for any sports fan. A 2016 survey conducted by D1Baseball.com proved it as Division I baseball coaches ranked Swayze Field top 10 nationally in six different categories, including prettiest setting, best traditions, best overall stadium and most intimidating cracking the top five.
Season tickets remain on sale (OleMissTix.com) as the Rebels start their 2017 campaign this week. No. 8 Ole Miss will battle No. 6 East Carolina this weekend at Swayze Field (Feb. 17-19). The top-10 matchup at Swayze Field is slated to begin at 4 p.m. Friday, and tickets for the season-opening series are still on sale as well.
