Ole Miss Students Protest Trump's Travel Ban
Earlier today in the Circle on the Ole Miss campus, hundreds gathered to oppose President Trump’s proposed travel ban from seven countries, including Iran, Iraq, Syria, Sudan, Libya, Yemen and Somalia.
Since Trump signed the executive order, it has been met with opposition and has sparked protests across the country.
Enforcement of the ban was recently blocked by James Robart, a federal judge from Seattle appointed by George W. Bush. Robart implemented a temporary restraining order, which will be appealed by Trump’s administration.
The protest on campus was peaceful, as the crowd held signs and spoke of diversity and inclusion. Ole Miss student Correl Hoyle talked about why this protest took place, and why people turned out to support it.
“A lot of people of different ethnicity are out here spreading their concerns about a law that may not even affect them directly, but all of the individuals have deemed this unconstitutional and immoral,” Hoyle said. “The famous quote goes ‘injustice anywhere is injustice everywhere.’ We want to step up and speak up for those who feel marginalized because they are human, too.”
Hoyle pointed out that he feels many Americans would be upset if they were being treated a certain way, and he hopes that people try to envision what it would be like to be treated differently.
“In my opinion, people don’t care when it’s you; and when it’s you, it’s too late,” he said. “But, I think a lot of people are starting to think ‘what if this was me?’ because we have this compassion of just being a human. To disgrace somebody based on the region where they’re from or their religion is wrong, and if the shoe were on the other foot, a lot of people would be up in arms.”

Poor little snowflakes. We will see how they feel when some Muslim takes out their family.

What is the difference between a Muslim woman and a catfish?
One smells and has wiskers.
The other one is a fish.

We definitely should’ve made the mascot a snowflake.
Where’s Nick Stakelum when you need him?

Lordy little Kenny….sounds like you’d be happy to see such a sight…your school has a losing football season. Your basketball team is oh so mediocre. You reside in the Country’s “Most Unhappy State”, that does claim the highest infant mortality rate; highest obesity rate; among the highest poverty rates and lowest educational ratings. Your laws have nary a concern about animal welfare, which, by the way, correlates through the roof with child abuse rates…and now you glibly and gleefully prognosticate death to us snowflakes…With friends like you, we crackers on the left are no worse off with Muslims. Right on Ole Miss protesters. Hotly toddy! There is still some compassion left in the old South.

Alston, I’m curious as to why you’re on this website. This is an Ole Miss fansite and it’s clear that you have no relation to Ole Miss or Mississippi since you refer to everything as “your” and “you”. Why do you waste your time on this website? Is it that your life is so pathetic and dull that you have to find various websites to comment on and make yourself feel better or is there some other reason that I’m missing?

To get back to the REAL issue here…safety. And no, my dear fellow students, this is not a travel ban. It’s temporary and a way of keeping another September 11th from happening. Oh, and by the way, where were you when YOUR president imposed a ban on THE EXACT SAME COUNTRIES? Know your history and facts before you, like Hollywood, make complete fools of yourselves.

alston is an example of a keyboard liberal…they constantly attack those who do not agree with their leftist views, and will not admit the muslim threat up until the moment one of them cuts his head off

Thanks Ed, you are probably a thoughtful person, sane, and one who has a capacity for compassion and reasoning.and I will respond. I’m in my 70’s, a very white snowflake, and born/raised in the South. Actually, I think Ole Miss is a fine university, and Lordy, I would love to see them enjoy one more national championship before I meet my Maker. My life is neither pathetic or dull, as you have chosen to assess that which you know nothing about. I do applaud “the little man”, and think the Democratic Party has forgotten how to appeal to the working class and middle class folks, without demeaning them. I am for strongly vetted immigration, fiscal restraint, and women’ rights, with regard to their bodies. I am appalled that mostly old, white men, (looking remarkably like me) make up the power structure that controls women, as well as you and me. I think Trump is a jerk and does not really represent the values of most Mississippians, and if they had a better choice in November, the voters would have take it. It sickens me to see the poverty and sadness that pervades the poor in Mississippi and throughout our country. I tire of our Churches preaching love and reconciliation on Sunday, then practice the most heinous of discrimination towards one, another, the other six days of the week. Sadly, much of my angst is what the psychologists refer to as “projection”, for all that I loathe, resides to some extent, within my own psyche. I apologize to you, personally, for offending you. I am much more like you than I am different. Finally, I appreciate the power of peaceful protest, finding this handful of kids who are exercising their right to say “no” to power, as refreshing. They are bucking the system, and going nowhere fast. Yes. IMHO, they are, perhaps, the best Ole Miss Rebels of all. Thank you Ed. May you have many years on this earth. And may your children grow up to attend a free and open Ole Miss.

question for our snowflakes please
what part of islam do you like best?
abuse of women, honor killings, genital mutilation
discrimination against homosexuals…..throwing them off tall building
mass beheading of christians
terrorist attacks

Did you know that child abuse rates, and spousal abuse rates, and animal abuse rates are out of the park. And before there was stringent vetting for Muslims, Seiks, Hindus, and pagans, our Scotch-Irish Protestant relatives were mostly poor as dirt immigrants, looking for a place to raise their families…Thomas Jefferson AND our best boy, J.C. recognized this ideal, and our Constitution, and Holy book, talk about it at length. What people in the name of Mohammed, find it in their power and will to do, is appalling. You ask me to choose between having my penis chopped off, or thrown off a building. I’m gonna opt for one of the other eight choices. It really pisses me off that people use their religion as an excuse to act out their most dreadful selves. Shame on the Muslims who do that. And shame on me and you, if we replicate this madness. Stay strong!

….admitting to the presence of Islamic facism in the world. Sometimes, however, our resistance morfs into the cancer we abhor. Hope I spelled that correctly, cause you’ll “call” me on it. Damn the NCAA…now that’s something we can agree on, I imagine.
